Sea buckthorn is native to northern Canada and likes to grow in siliceous soils to give them strength and flexibility. Interestingly, sea buckthorn can invade any ecosystem lacking rich soil, improving soil quality and supporting the growth of other plants. Like hawthorn, it has thorny branches and berries that birds happily eat. Its berries are rich in vitamins A, C, E, phytosterols, anthocyanins, potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium, iron and phosphorus.
Historically, sea buckthorn has been used to combat stress, allergies and infections due to its high concentration of antioxidants. On a spiritual and mental-emotional level, sea buckthorn bud supports the inner self that extends to the physical level, especially in cases of malnutrition.
Phytoembryonic plant medicine, similar to Western botanical medicine, relies on the extraction of a variety of phytochemicals, nutrients, and energetic elements from plants to exert therapeutic effects. The plant bud, composed mainly of meristem cells, is the most concentrated and vital part of the plant, since it houses all the information relating to the development of the plant. Meristem cells are undifferentiated embryological tissues capable of specializing depending on living conditions. Thus, meristem cells are the factory, engine and blueprints of an immature plant, giving functional instructions to the embryonic tissue and driving its growth to thrive in a specific environment.
