A superior prenatal multivitamin with high bioavailability and antioxidant protection. Prenatal Pro™ is a 4-capsule/day multivitamin/mineral complex designed to provide a broad spectrum of nutrients to complement an average diet. It is formulated based on the Recommended Daily Intakes (RDI) and Adequate Intakes (AI) and considers average nutrient intakes as well as common deficiencies in typical Western diets to support a healthy pregnancy and optimal fetal development. Prenatal Pro is unique in that it contains a blend of gamma- and delta-tocotrienols, which are more powerful antioxidants than alpha-tocopherol and have exceptional health benefits. (See Annatto-EMC Fact Sheet for details.) It also contains a bioidentical form of folate with superior bioavailability compared to folic acid, which may reduce the risk of birth defects associated with common genetic polymorphisms. Optimal vitamin and mineral intake for women who are pregnant or trying to conceive is a topic of ongoing research. This includes evaluating the diet on which humans have evolved for millions of years, as well as research proposing to redefine the optimal minimum levels of nutrients to support healthy DNA replication (also known as genomic stability). All of this is relevant to the health of pregnant women and normal fetal development. The proposed new Australian RI for folate (700 mcg) is higher than the US RI (600 mcg), but is similar to the proposed estimate based on the evolving average dietary folate intake of 736 mcg. Furthermore, beyond the recommended dietary intakes for the general population, it is important to consider clinical status, age, and genetics—all factors that are individual to each individual—when estimating the nutrients needed for good health. For example, as one study found, polymorphisms related to the folate/homocysteine pathway may contribute to an increased risk for the development of certain pregnancy-related conditions. The doses of vitamins B2, B6, B12 and folic acid in Prenatal Pro™ are adequate to promote optimal homocysteine levels for a large portion of the population, but not for individuals with single nucleotide polymorphisms, particularly those affecting homocysteine metabolic pathways and/or folate receptor activity.
Adult Women: Take four capsules daily, twice daily with meals or as directed by your healthcare professional. Take a few hours before or after taking other medications.
