The Atlas cedar is native to North Africa. In the distant past, it also lived in Europe in the wild. It tolerates cold very well and has a more upright and slender habit than the cedar of Lebanon. Its needles are bluish, its branches are ascending and shorter than those of other cedars; its bark is light gray and cracks with age; its cones are 6 cm long, with a small hollow in the center.
