Silver Linden (Tilia tomentosa) Fig Tree (Ficus carica) Hawthorn (Crataegus laevigata) Enables mindfulness Phyto S.F.H. is one of the six nervous system complexes. It is the remedy of choice for gaining perspective on daily stress and avoiding being overwhelmed, for adults and children. Its main actions are nervous, antispasmodic, and anxiolytic. It acts on the cortico-hypothalamic axis to help manage the stress response. It is particularly beneficial in cases of hypodigestion due to anxiety. The complex is also well-suited to anticipatory anxiety and emotional hypersensitivity. Silver Linden has key actions in preventing insomnia thanks to its sedative effects, without affecting motor function. Silver Linden has several traditional uses. (1) postpartum confinement (known as "lying-in"), (2) as a prophylaxis to reduce childbirth complications due to its antispasmodic action (3) calming the nervous system. In TCM, silver linden was considered to "calm the Shen". More recent studies using mouse models have shown the ability of silver linden to cause ankylosing effects. Hawthorn helps the person to be resilient in the face of life's challenges. It also promotes relaxation and prevents emotional outbursts often associated with palpitations. Hawthorn appears to have hypotensive and vasodilatory effects. In 2020, a systematic review of four trials (n=254) concluded that hawthorn given for twelve weeks significantly lowered blood pressure in people with mild hypertension. A 2008 Cochrane review concluded that hawthorn had a significant benefit in controlling the symptoms and physiological outcomes of chronic heart failure. Fig complements the other two remedies by harmonizing and restoring digestion, which is often compromised in situations of stress and anxiety.
