Numerous clinical trials of myo-inositol have shown a positive effect on spontaneous ovulation and on meiotic maturation and human oocyte quality, as well as improvements in metabolic risk factors and reductions in androgen levels in women with PCOS. A recent meta-analysis of seven trials showed that myo-inositol increased pregnancy rates in subfertile women undergoing ovulation induction for ICSI or IVF-ET, and reduced the number of inadequate oocytes and medications required for ovulation. Similarly, D-chiro-inositol has been shown to improve ovarian function and metabolism, including cycle regularity, blood pressure, HOMA index, and hormones such as insulin and LH. In PCOS Care, these complementary nutrients are combined in a 40:1 ratio that has been shown to be more effective than myo-inositol alone in improving metabolic symptoms and IVF outcomes in women with PCOS, and according to the dosage ratio recommended by the International Consensus Conference on myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol.
